Onlyfans was launched back in 2016 and quickly rose to prominence in a relatively short-period of time. It was initially being marketed as a patreon-style platform for fitness influencers but because NSFW content is allowed on the site, lots of pornstars, sex workers and instagram models started using it and today the site is virtually known for porn.

So, what is Onlyfans?

Onlyfans is a subscription-based social media platform where content creators can sell picture, video and text content. Subscription fees can range from free to $49.99 (this is the cap set by Onlyfans as of the date of this review). Creators also have the option to up-sell more content in the DM’s and thus it’s very common to find creators who charge a low subscription fee to get you in but you will only see the good stuff when you pay more in the DM’s.

The site itself is designed like any other social media platform, users have a wall where they can post content that will be seen by their followers and there is also an option to message the people you are following. The site has it’s kinks but I have been using it for over a year now and I have noticed the improvements they have been making with time. The streaming speed used to be really slow but that has gotten better but the live feature is still clunky as there are always connectivity issues when a creator decides to go live.

The quality of the porn will depend on who you decide to follow. I have followed more than 500 models since I joined the site and I can definitely tell you that a lot of them are not worth the money! The problem is there are no previews and therefore, there is no way to gauge whether what you are paying for will be worth it.

The reason the site has gotten so popular is because a lot of instagram models are using it to sell nudes and sex tapes. They are very good at enticing their followers and it’s very tempting to spend the money cause you finally get to see your favourite instagram model naked! I’ve heard users say that it is better than “regular porn” cause they feel as though they know the person and thus it is a more intimate experience. I guess that I can understand where they are coming from but I should note that not all of them post NSFW content.

There are some models on there that just dangle the carrot and lead people on but never show the goods. For some it will just be like ‘instagram premium’ so let me give you some tips on what to check for before subscribing to someone’s Onlyfans.

1. Check the model’s instagram and Twitter accounts, if her posts are of low quality on those platforms, then they will be of low quality on Onlyfans.

2. Google the model’s name with the words ‘onlyfans’ and ‘reddit’ or ‘onlyfans’ and ‘forum’. This way you can see what people are saying about her onlyfans and evaluate if it will be worth the money.

3. Check their onlyfans bio – some of them will let you know what to expect in their bio so be sure to check it out. Others also give you the option to scroll through their posts and be able to read the text but not see the video/photo. Sometimes the text is enough to let you know if it’s the type of content you are looking for.

And that’s it. Of-course you wont always find enough information and sometimes you’ll just have to take the plunge to find out if the girl is worth it but hopefully I saved you a couple hundred bucks with my tips 🙂
